Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How early in the wedding-planning process should I book a wedding photographer?
You should book your photographer as soon as possible. With many weddings taking place on holidays and weekends, there's a good chance that the photographer you wish to use may not be available.
Q: Why should we have an engagement photo session?
An engagement photo session is a great opportunity to become familiar with your photographer, his/her methods, and his/her directions before your special day. The photos from the session are typically used for save-the-date announcements, but many wedding couples like to display these photos in their home because it shows the couple in love without the formal wedding attire. You may also want to use your engagement photos on your wedding website, social networking websites, and even display the photos on a slideshow at the wedding, or on a signature board/book.
Q: What's included in your wedding packages?
Our "Happily Ever After" and "Wedding Bliss" packages include pre-wedding consultations, two photographers, engagement photo session, full-day coverage (preparation, ceremony, reception), unlimited photos of your wedding day, extensive color/b&w processing to ensure that your photos reflect the vibrant beauty and essence of the day, custom-designed wedding book(s), a secure web gallery to view and share your photos, a number of free 5x7 and 8x10 prints, and personalized discs of your high-resolution photos so that you can print and share them at your convenience.
We also offer a less inclusive package and individual options so that you can tailor a package to fit your custom needs.
Give us a call, or use our website form to setup an appointment to meet with us. We'd love to hear about your wedding plans and provide you with a photography package to suit your needs.
Q: What is your style of photography?
Many couples searching for a wedding photographer are attracted to images that look "natural" or unposed. This style of photography is referred to as “documentary” or “photojournalism”. FocusTree Photography specializes in this technique along with creative and artistic post-processing, which allows the true essence and emotions of your wedding day to be remembered for generations to come. We are very proud members of the Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA), as well as the Artistic Guild of the WPJA.
For those who treasure the traditional poses of the bridal party and family members, fear not, we also include those types of photos in our wedding photography services. In these instances, we will make suggestions and interact with the subjects to ensure that they look their best.
Q: What type of equipment do you use?
We use professional digital SLR cameras and lenses for our wedding photography. We use a number of multi-Gig memory cards, a portable hard drive and laptop to backup your photos. We also carry backup equipment including extra camera bodies, lenses, flashes, and portable lighting.
Q: Do I need to sign a wedding photography contract?
Yes. We require the bride and groom to carefully read and sign our wedding contract prior to reserving our services for your wedding day. The contract specifies the services you will receive, along with the terms and conditions of the agreement, including payment and cancellation policies.
